Competition Rules and Regulations

Repertoire

  • Audition Video: A piece with a minimum duration of three minutes and a maximum of six minutes.
  • Recital Competition: A piece with a minimum duration of five minutes and a maximum of ten minutes.

Classical Category : A piece from the Baroque or Classical period.

Jazz Category : A piece of blues (Minor blues with rhythm changes), a standard from the bebop era, or a ballad from any era.

Video Specifications

  • The recording must be of high technical quality. Poor-quality recordings may disadvantage candidates.
  • The applicant’s face and hands must be visible throughout the recording.
  • The video should be uncut and unedited

Competition Rules

  • Only one entry per individual or group will be accepted.
  • Music sheets should be provided to the Jury before the Competition.
  • Music should be played by memory.
  • Performers must come with their own accompanists.  The Institute WILL NOT provide one.
  • Performers are expected to dress appropriately and maintain a decent appearance.
  • The judge’s decision is final, and neither the judges nor the staff will engage in any correspondence.
  • By completing, submitting, and uploading the entry form along with supporting documents, the entrant agrees to comply with all rules and regulations of the competition and accepts the decisions of the jury.  Failure to adhere to these rules may result in disqualification from the competition.
  • AIM reserves the right to record all performances during the competition. By participating, competitors waive all rights, fees, and claims related to these recordings.
